Virtuemart update manually

Can I delete all the sub-directories in components and re-install all the extensions? Or are there native Joomla components there, as I suspect?

Do NOT delete all of the directory and files under the components directory! That is NOT the way you uninstall components in Joomla!. You need to login to Joomla! VirtueMart can be found there and uninstalled but depending on how old your current VirtueMart installation is, you may be able to update it without fully uninstalling it first. Read as much as you can before attempting to either upgrade or uninstall any third party Joomla! Worldwide TeleNet - Joomla! That was what I suspected.

I have naturally tried to uninstall the pertinent modules, components, etc. I still get this message telling me there is something there which I cannot see through Joomla or through the file system. Sounds like you've been using Joomla! That's a good thing! Sometimes when an extension is uninstalled, the original directory is not. The directory may or may not be empty of any orphan files as well.

That's not a fault of Joomla! Download your language pack. Download older versions of VirtueMart VM2. You are new to Joomla and VirtueMart or you don't have Joomla already installed?

You already have Joomla installed? More detailed instructions can be found here: installation instructions. You need more help? Discover all the features , and try our demo. VirtueMart has the same requirements as joomla. However, we recommend those technical options: php 5. It also demonstrates how a basic setup should look like. It is possible to do the first test checkout within 2 minutes after installation.

The normal installation packages are also directly useable for updates. The normal way here is also to use the Joomla Extension Manager for installing an update. Always directly update to the last version of VirtueMart. So a vm2. For updating to a new main version it is the same rule. A VM2 should be always directly updated with the most recent VM3. It is very likely that are more recent version has also more backward compatibilities fixes and enhanced updating procedure.

VirtueMart has it's own table updater, which checks for differences in the installation. Deletion of columns is disabled to prevent data losses in case the tables got modified have additional tables. So it is quite normal that the update process displays messages of the type 'Notice', like "Taking config from file" or some variants of 'Table updated: Tablename '. Before the installation of VirtueMart it is recommended to install the preferred main language first. The preferred language should be configured as 'site' language in Joomla.
